Part Two

What should I say?

Imagine your self in a place where no one has spoken for years and the only sound has been the breath of mere survival and even that has grown weak. In the midst of this silence you have been chosen to be the first to express Life, to express Hope. Thoughts running through your head, ideas racing and your nerves getting the best of you. One question resounding in your head; “What Should I Say?”

Isaiah 40:3 – The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
“Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make straight in the desert A highway for our God.”

Preparing the way for who & what was in it self not an easy task to say the least. Then to add to the challenge placed before him with the people now we hear of an uprising due to the broken silence.

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence”

Not only would the prophet have to face various mentalities regarding the coming of the Messiah but he would also have to confront a spiritual rebellion. A rebellion poised to hinder the effectiveness of John’s message and determined to stop its delivery to this generation.

Just as John was confronted with these difficulties we see the new “John’s”, the Prophets of this generation facing the same “demons.” We live among a generation that has twisted from its founding principles and now stands against some of its own founding core beliefs.

We live in a society who suffers from the absence of a loving, renewing, and hope filled word. We walk by them every day in our streets, markets places, jobs & homes. They long for the sound of a word or expression that will help them free themselves from the pain, hurt, and emotional anguish that plagues their lives everyday.

It is up to us not judge or cast down but that through our words we can bring healing and restoration. We must do as John the Baptist did, we must prepare a way for our savior to reach them through the power of the Holy Spirit spear headed by “Our words.”

The Bible teaches us that there is life and death in the power of our tongues. Therefore as we move forward in this journey to reach the world we must begin to measure our words carefully. We must let this generation know that God is the answer; and when asking ourselves; “what should I say let the foundation of our words be the following; there is “LOVE” for a shattered heart, there is “HEALING” for a broken spirit, there is “HOPE” for the confused and depressed, there is “LIFE” for a dead soul!

God has called our generation to bring forth His word into a world that has been in a spiritual slumber. Although the challenges are great and the road before us difficult we will not continue to loose our families to abuse, or our children to drugs, alcohol & gangs.

It is in this time, in this moment, during these circumstances that we the church of God as one body shall remain quiet no more. We will stand up, we will speak up, and will forever more Break the Silence!
